Wyoming 2016

Our challenge starts in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This gateway to the Grand Tetons National Park offers breath-taking views from every angle. Low-lying valleys are surrounded by majestic mountain ranges. Lakes and rivers intermingle with Alpine terrain, home to elk, beaver and many other wildlife.

We will be enjoying daily hikes or bike rides through one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world. In the late afternoon we will return to our comfortable lodges for rest, dinner, and the chance to relish our achievements with new friends. We will also have wonderful opportunities to hear from leaders from some of our international projects. So you will leave feeling physically and spiritually refreshed!

Experience levels

- Easy/Beginner Level

Hikes range in length from 2 to 5 miles, with an elevation gain of not more than 800 feet.  These walks are close to our lodging, around nearby lakes and are considered more leisurely.

 - Moderate/Intermediate Level

Hikes range in length from 6 to 11 miles, with an elevation of gain from 500 to 1,800 feet.  These hikes include some strenuous hiking considered moderate to difficult through canyons and near waterfalls. Depending on the hike it may be necessary to rise early to complete the hike in a timely manner.

- Difficult/Advanced Level

Hikes range in length from 6 to 12 miles, with significant elevation gain from 2,600 to 5,200 feet.  This level of hiking is considered strenuous and difficult.  You will hike through canyons, over boulders, up steep inclines and on narrow paths.  The lengths of the hikes require stamina and rising early to finish the hikes in a timely manner.

It was amazing to sense the team effort. Even though each of us had to put one foot in front of the other to get up and down the various peaks, there was a real sense that we were in this together. The moments on the trail brought opportunities to share our life experiences and fears, hopes and vision for the future and purpose for hiking
— Shirley, previous Freedom Challenge climb participant

About The Freedom Challenge

The Freedom Challenge is a movement of passionate women dedicated to ending modern-day slavery and oppression.  It is not just about climbing a mountain; it's a way to engage in this global battle and strategically help these women and children. Climbing/hiking or walking these mountains is merely a symbolic gesture of what women and children around the world go through every single day. As a Freedom Climber, you will raise awareness and funds for OM projects all over the world that help reduce vulnerability and fight the battle against modern slavery and oppression.
